  • End of the Day Reminders
It is important to discuss End of Day plans or changes with your child before they leave for school in the morning.  If changes occur unexpectedly and you need to notify a student.  Please contact the office BEFORE 2:45 to insure students get the message. Students need to be picked up when school is out. There is NO supervision after 3:10.
    Thanks for your help.

The Readathon runs from Jan. 25 through Feb. 8th, 2012.  Some prizes can be redeemed during the book fair!  The Readathon has always been popular with students.  To find out more, you can download a flyer here.

A student's success begins in the home.
R E M I N D E R ...
Please arrive to school between 7:30 and 8:00. Make every effort to see that your children arrive at school on time and have a good beginning to their school day. When a student comes to school late, it disrupts their learning AND disrupts the learning and interferes with the rights of other students in their class.

When a student has missed 10 or more days from school – each additional absence will require verification from the appropriate professional office in order to be classified as an excused absence.

If a student is absent for whatever reason, the school office must receive a phone call the day of the absence or a note the next day explaining the reason for the absence.

Inclement Weather Procedures – When a decision can be made the preceding night, the district will attempt to make an announcement by 10:00 p.m.  In most cases, a decision won’t be made until morning.  The goal is to make a decision by 6:00 a.m. if schools are closed.  Tune into area radio and television stations for frequent school closing announcements.  Web sites are another resource (www.usd497.org).  Schools are not able to provide care for children who arrive when buildings are closed.  Schools will contact parents to pick up their children.  Parents should make prior arrangements for supervision of their children.  This is another important reason to have accurate telephone numbers and emergency contact information on file.
